Self Love Verses Selfless Verses Selfish

As we approach Mother's day 2021. I thought this post will be right on time.

Also, before I forget to mention, I would like to wish my fellow Nurses Happy Nurses week . To my Teachers out there, you have a hard job as well. Happy Teacher's week.

Well let's get right to it. What is the difference between Self Love, Selfless and Selfish you ask?  As women and specifically Mothers,  I believe we have to find a balance between all three. We spend so much of our time caring and nurturing others. As Oprah once said on her show, being a Mother is the hardest job. As a Mother you have extremely long hours and very little pay :)

Self love by defination is having a high regard for your own well-being and happiness.  Taking care of your own needs and not sacrificing your well-being to please others. But, it can mean different things to different people. I like to practice self love on Sunday. You can take a nice long bath, get pampered, take a walk, enjoy your favorite drink or just have some alone time. in my opinion self care routines can help your mental health as well.

Selfless means concerned more with the needs and wishes of others than with one's own self. In a relationship true love is selfless love, unconditional love that consists of devotion, respect, appreciation, sacrifice and most importantly Sefllessness. But, again you must find time to care for yourself as well. Remember what is said on a plane before take off. In an emergency put the oxygen on yourself first, so that you can help others. You are not good to anyone with you are sick or burned out.

and finally...

Selfish-is being concerned excessively or exclusively with one's self. Seeking or concentrating on one's own advantage. pleasure, or well-being without regard for others.  Arising from concern with one's own welfare or advantage in disregard of others.

Depending on where you think you fall. It is always good to find a balance. Having a family filled with love and being in the spirit of cooperation with others. Being true, honest and open in communication.

HAPPY MOTHER' DAY to my beautiful Queens out there.
